Indonesian Language Studies

Indonesia is one of Australia’s near neighbours. It’s a vibrant place of multiple cultures and languages, set to become a major player in the global economy over the next few decades. At Heathfield Primary, students are offered a taste of the national language, Bahasa Indonesia, through understandable language input and storytelling. They are also encouraged to learn about their own identity as they become curious about the cultures of others. It is hoped that through this, students will develop a sense that languages are ‘doable” as a key way of communicating and understanding cultures; and that they will continue to develop as engaged, global citizens.
